Camp Survival Guide
-
ALL forms must be turned in
on your first day of marching band camp. This includes the medical consent,
family information (if you have not already done so), consent for
participation and physicals.
-
Get yourself fully hydrated
by drinking plenty of water each day between now and camp.
-
In the weeks before band
camp, get some exercise and spend some time getting used to being outside in
the mornings and late afternoon/evenings. Go for brisk walks or slow
jogging. Do some gentle stretching. Preparing your body for marching outside
is important to help you keep your muscles in top shape for marching and to
prevent injury. Be sure to drink lots of non-carbonated fluids if you’re
working out.
-
Once camp starts, continue
to drink lots of fluids each night (avoid caffeine and carbonation).
-
Eat a healthy breakfast
-
Be on time or early to camp.
(Because to be “on time” is to be LATE!)
-
Wear light colored clothing,
white sneakers, hat and sunscreen.
-
Bring a large container of
water daily (32 oz or more) and DRINK IT!
-
Bring your healthy lunch to
camp (you may not leave campus for lunch.) Avoid soft drinks with your
lunch. Water or Gatorade is best.
-
Parents drop off/pick up
marchers in back of the school in the bus loop.
Ask your Section Leaders if you have any questions!!
